Jason
Rafeld
Jason
Rafeld most recently served as an officer in the United
States Navy where he trained with the Navy SEALs,
served as the Executive Officer for a command training
international allied forces in riverine combat, coastal
patrol and drug interdiction and served as a public affairs
officer for the SEAL Command. He is currently a lieutenant
in the Naval Reserve.
Prior to his military service, Jason was a part of the executive staff for the
Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation (BWC). During his tenure he participated
in the reorganization of this ailing department into what is recognized as one
of the most efficient and successful cabinet level agencies in the state. While
at BWC, he held the positions of Director of Investigations, Director of Communications,
Office Services and Facilities and Executive Assistant to the CEO.
He also formerly served as the Legislative Liaison and Special Assistant to the
Director for the Ohio Department of Administrative Services (DAS). While at DAS
Jason was highly involved in controversial reform legislation which allowed the
Governor to take over the Ohio BWC which was previously run by an independent
board as well as successful efforts to reduce cost and streamline DAS.
Jason has ample campaign experience having staffed for many local, state and
federal political campaigns.
Jason received his B.S. degree in Communications from the University of Kentucky
in 1993. He has also studied at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland; the
Institute on World Legal Problems at the University of Innsbruck in Austria;
and the Centre of International & European Economic Law in Greece. Jason
is admitted to the practice law in State of Ohio.
