Nazar Zhdan serves as Director of Legislative Affairs at Van Meter, Ashbrook & Associates. He is responsible for monitoring all legislative activity, client communication, and project management.
Nazar is a native of Ukraine who moved to the United States at the age of 14. Upon his graduation from Ohio Wesleyan University, Mr. Zhdan became actively involved in politics at a young age, volunteering for several campaigns at the local and statewide level.
Mr. Zhdan’s involvement in politics began in Washington, D.C., where he worked as a legislative intern on Capitol Hill, performing research and preparing briefings under independent economists. Nazar’s research was used to address media, business communities, and Congressional committees. These early experiences augmented Nazar’s understanding of the legislative process and the structure of grassroots campaigning.
When Governor John Kasich announced his bid for the President of the United States, Nazar worked as a grassroots coordinator and a political consultant in New Hampshire, South Carolina, Michigan, Ohio and Utah. Nazar was also a special project manager and a consultant on the Kasich campaign’s delegate and convention team.
Nazar received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio where he was a member of the men’s soccer team. Nazar majored in Political Science and Economics & Management.
